What an automotive buyer asks for
A stamper needs three things from aluminum: dimensional consistency so the die isn't reset every lot, mechanical properties that pass PPAP, and origin documentation so the part counts as regional content when the vehicle crosses into the United States.
Almexa direct-chill casts and hot rolls, which gives homogeneous mechanical properties in the 1000, 3000 and 5000 series. Heat-treatable outer-body alloys (6000 series) are outside our scope, and we say so before you ask.

Origin, Section 232 and USMCA
Since 2025 the United States applies the Section 232 tariff to aluminum and requires importers to declare where the metal was smelted and cast. Almexa's aluminum is melted, cast and rolled in Mexico; we ship a mill test report per lot and the plant statement your customs broker needs. Details are on the aluminum origin page.

Which aluminum alloy is used for automotive stamping?
For interior parts and brackets, 3003 or 3105 in H14 temper; for heat shields and insulation, 1100; for structural parts that need strength, 5052. Outer-body 6000-series alloys are not made at Almexa.
Does Almexa aluminum count as USMCA regional content?
The metal is melted, cast and rolled in Mexico, making it originating material of the region. The final qualification of the part is determined by the manufacturer with its trade compliance team; Almexa supplies the mill test report and origin documentation for the material.
