An aluminum rolling mill melts the metal, casts it into slab and rolls it hot and cold to final gauge. Almexa Aluminio is the only mill with that complete process in Mexico.
We make it, we don't resell it
For a US buyer sourcing from Mexico, an integrated mill changes three things: the melt-and-cast origin is documented from the furnace, which is what Section 232 and USMCA content rules ask for; lead time is a truck, not a ship; and alloy, temper and gauge are set to your spec at the plant.

From ingot to coil
This is how flat-rolled aluminum is made at Almexa. Every step happens in our plants, with our people.

Melting
Primary ingot and sorted scrap are melted in reverberatory furnaces. Each alloy's chemistry is set here: the near-pure 1000 series, manganese for the 3000 series, magnesium for the 5000 series.

Casting
Liquid metal is direct-chill (DC) cast into slab or continuous cast (CC) into strip. DC casting produces 12-inch slabs that are hot rolled, which gives better mechanical properties.

Hot rolling
The slab goes through the hot mill until it becomes heavy-gauge strip. This is the step that separates an integrated mill from a service center.

Cold rolling
The strip is cold rolled to final gauge within thousandths of an inch and annealed to the temper your process needs.

Slitting and finishing
Coil is slit to width, cut to length, blanked into circles or coil coated. It leaves the plant with a mill test report per lot.

Almexa today
Almexa Aluminio is a subsidiary of Grupo Vasconia, a public company on the Mexican Stock Exchange. In 2025 the group completed a financial restructuring: the agreement was approved on October 22, 2025 and the debt capitalization was settled on May 13, 2026. We publish the dates and sources because a buyer of tons needs to know who they are working with.

It manufactures it. Almexa Aluminio melts, casts and rolls the metal at its plants in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec and Veracruz, Mexico. It is an integrated mill, not a service center or an importer.

The metal is melted, cast and rolled in Mexico, so it is originating material of the USMCA region. Whether your finished part qualifies depends on its rule of origin, which your trade compliance team determines; Almexa provides the material evidence.
How is flat-rolled aluminum priced?
LME aluminum price plus the regional premium (Midwest premium in North America) plus the conversion cost (FAB), which depends on product, alloy and gauge. Only the FAB differs between mills.
